Obituary:
Clarence A. Vavra, 89 year old resident of Swanville, MN passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at his residence in Bruce Township, Todd County, MN. Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 6th at Bearhead Cemetery, west of Swanville with Rev. Roland Jennings officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Swanville American Legion Post #313 and VFW Post #6037. Clarence A. Vavra was born on July 14, 1920 in Burnhamville Twp., Todd County, Minnesota to the late Frank & Elsie (Kriz) Vavra. Clarence enlisted in the U.S Army in 1944 to 1946. He received two bronze stars for his efforts in WW II. Clarence lived and farmed most his life on the family farm in Bruce Twp, Todd County, MN. He enjoyed fishing, photography and bird watching. Clarence supported various veterans associations. Clarence is survived by his brothers, Joseph Vavra of Belvidere, IL and Harvey (Elizabeth) Vavra of Rockford, IL; Brother-in-law, Owen Brown of South Beloit, IL; sisters, Clara Vavra of Rockford, IL, Helen Vavra of Beloit, WI and Bertha Bain of Little Falls, MN; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Elsie Vavra; sisters, Mary Johnson and Fern Brown; brothers, Albert Vavra and Robert Vavra.
