LeRoy A. Gudlen was born January 25, 1930 in New Ulm, MN to the late George and Eleanor (Dietz) Gulden. He attended District #55 country school in Granite Township. LeRoy was united in marriage to MaryAnn M. Hoheisel on September 3, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. The couple purchased the family farm and dairy farmed until retiring in 1989. While farming, LeRoy also worked at Larson Boats in Little Falls and was a school bus driver for over 30 years in Pierz. After retiring, LeRoy built a home in Pierz and began working as a grounds keeper at the Pierz Golf Course. LeRoy was always busy working, but took time for his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards; going to the casino; polka dancing and listening to old time music; attending auctions; deer hunting; snowmobiling and taking care of his lawn and flowers. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. LeRoy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, served as Granite Township Supervisor for many years, served on the AMPI Board and was active in the Heartland Polka Club.
LeRoy A. Gulden is survived by his beloved wife, MaryAnn; sons, Richard (Bonnie) Gulden of Pierz, MN; Randy (Ruthann Jensen) Gulden of Pierz, MN and Clyde (Marilyn) Gulden of Pierz, MN; a daughter, Tammy (Rex) Naill of Pierz, MN; a sister: Leora Wilkes of Pierz, MN; 9 grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Dustin, Tyler, TJ, Chenoa and Chantel; 5 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Taylre, Addison, Joel and Trent.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor Gulden; infant son, Joseph Gulden; sister, Catherine Kastanek; brother-in-laws, Jrwin Kastanek and Richard Wilkes.
