Marie C. Meyer

Marie C. Meyer, 92 year old resident of Pierz, MN, formerly of Morrill, MN, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Pierz Villa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morrill, MN with Father Matthew Langager officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Morrill, MN. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Friday at St. Joseph's Parish Church in Morrill, MN. The family of Marie kindly asks that all visitors and guests attending the funeral wear a face covering. Caring for Marie and her family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Pierz. Marie Catherine Theis was born to Nicholas and Susan (Bolster) Theis on April 5, 1929 in Buckman Township. She grew up on the family farm and attended St. Michael’s grade school in Buckman and St. Francis High School in Little Falls. She graduated with the class of 1948. Marie was employed at Zenner’s store in Buckman until her marriage to Roman Meyer on June 21, 1949 in St. Michael’s Church in Buckman, MN. They moved to a farm near Little Rock in March of 1950 and continued to live on the farm until June, 2012. Marie started to sing in the Buckman choir at the age of 14 and continued until her marriage and then sang in Morrill with the St. Joseph’s Parish Choir until the year 2012. She sang solos for many weddings and also sang duets with her son Loren, accompanied by her daughter Jeanne. She bowled for many years and received many trophies. She enjoyed working with ceramics. Marie was very active in the St. Theresa’s Mission Group in her parish and was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was very active in helping with the farm work. You name it, she did it when it came to farm work. Marie enjoyed doing work for charity and enjoyed playing all sorts of card games. Marie is survived by her children, Neil (Carolyn) Meyer of St. Cloud, Loren (Janel) Meyer of Pierz, Jeanne (Dick) Knopik of Little Falls and Julie (Bob) Kummet of Lastrup; grandchildren, Shannon Meyer, Lori (Cory) Guggenberger, Luke (Jessica) Meyer, Lisa (Kevin) Smude, Eric (Emily) Knopik, Kevin (Rachel) Knopik, Justin (Cassie) Meyer, Brandon and Shana Meyer, and granddaughter-in-law, Becky Kummet (Jeremy Larson and son Taylor); great-grandchildren, Allie, Remy, Margo, Matilda and Sydnee Meyer, Kaitlyn, Joey and Nora Smude, Joshua, Andrew, Abigail, Ada and Annie Knopik, Garrett Guggenberger, Taylor Kummet Hiltz (Nick Fallgren) and Hannah Kummet; great-great-grandchild, Raelyn Fallgren; sister, Ellen Akotchik and, brother-in-law, Gerald (Corrine) Meyer. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Roman; grandson, Brian Kummet; parents, Nick and Susan Theis; brother, Claude (Carol) Theis, and brothers-in-law, Cletus (Deloria) Meyer, Ervin (Janet) Meyer and John Akotchik.
