Releasing my white dove gave me such a feeling that I had just released Richard of all his trials and troubles of the last couple of years. That really helped me alot. He was a special brother-in-law.

  • To everyone at Shelley's, Thank-you for the beautiful Christmas Service of Remembrance. Also for the delicious dinner at the VFW. Everyone made us feel so welcome and my heart is now full of love and hope.

  • Shelley Funeral Chapels' very kind and competent funeral director, Terry Nelson, placed a dove in the hands of each of those closest family members who wished to do the dove release...After the "flying on the wings of doves" reading, all of us holding doves released them together. For me, this experience was beautiful, poignant, and a perfect mix of sadness in losing my dad and father-in-law, and at the same time, the tearful joy of wishing them "Godspeed" on their flight from our world into the afterlife. The sound of the bird's wings as they were released, and the artistry of their dance across the sky, will remain vivid in my memory as my personal, symbolic metaphor for saying a final goodby to those two most important men whom I respected, loved and profoundly miss.
